For All Egyptian Moms... - 2007/10/09 10:16
I was thinking of organising a "Speak-Only-Arabic Playdate" in one of the parks in November for all the Egyptian Moms who believe thier children don't get enough exposure to the language and don't speak it enough.

If you are an Egyptian Mom, and you identify with the above, please let me know.

It will be a relaxed afternoon (away from classroom restrictions) and a good chance for the children to discover that they can still have fun while speaking the language.

The only condition is that I would ask all the Moms to "ONLY" speak Arabic to each other and to their children during that afternoon.

It could work!

Currently, the people who are interested have children that range in age from 8 to 2. How old are yours?

Not at all. It is just an informal gathering where children can play and interact outdoors and hear their Mums speak Arabic to them and to each other.

It would be great for your daughter as she'll get a few older ones to look after her

Umm Suquiem park on Tuesday 13th of November at 3:30. Bring a snack for your child if you want, and perhaps a mat to sit on.

The thing to remember though, is that we all have to try to speak "Only Arabic" during the couple of hours we're there
